Musical Cubicles
At the beginning of class the other day we had to go to another students desk and draw an item on their desk. We were given two minutes at each desk while music played, and when it stopped we moved to another desk...we did this for a total of 11 desks and here is what I ended up with:

Pencil Box
Our second project of the year was to design a box for the pencils we have for class. We were allowed to use matte board, paper and adhesive. Here are my first idea drawings, first iterations and then the final product:
At first I was really unsure of what type of box I wanted to make...thats why there are so many different types of boxes in my drawings; I just tried to draw different ideas that I had.

This was my first iteration. Overall, I thought it was o.k. but defintely way too big. I wanted to have something smaller.
I liked my second iteration; especially the way I was able to make the lid curve. Plus this was a lot smaller than my first iteration and I felt like it fit the pencils better.

And here you can see my final pencil box. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Of course there is always something that can be improved but overall I'm happy with the design of it.

All about profiles...
All this past week we have been learning how to draw the profile of people by first mapping out the face. This technique has really helped me. Even though not all of my profiles have looked exactly like the person the proportions of the face are still pretty accurate.
This was the first profile I did of Troy in class...I was surprised how well it turned out:
This next one is of my mom. It looks somewhat like her but i feel like something is off.

people....
I really despise drawing people...but for class we had to do four drawings of people in public places and at least two people had to be in each picture. Here are my drawings from this assignment but I'm not really happy with any of them. I have a hard time getting the proportions of people accurate. I guess out of the 4 of these the last two are my favorite even though they are far from being good.

Negative Space Bike
For class we had to look at an upside down bicycle and draw the negative space. For me, it took a really long time, and I obviously did not finish.

Contours
For class one day, we had to go to three different spots on the campus of UNCG and do contour drawings of the buildings in that area. For homework, we were to go back to one of those spots and do another contour drawing of that area. Here are mine:
This is the first drawing I did sitting in front of the School of Education building looking down College Ave.

And here is my second drawing, looking at the same area.
